As artists, we have a deep desire to create not only for ourselves but for others, to touch their hearts. As creators, there comes a moment when we see that social media is a tool to help us in our mission. It is then that claiming our presence online becomes undeniable!  

Social media platforms are the fastest-growing mediums for artists and creators to spread their vision, create connections with their audience and build community. YouTube in particular is the most powerful medium built exactly for this! In the YouTube space, there’s a spot for everyone. Wellness, fitness, spirituality, knitting, zero waste, DIYs….anything you can think of has representation and a community of its own. I find beauty in that! Being able to connect with individuals all over the world about hobbies and passions, to find connections, with just a few click it’s amazing! 

YouTube can be intimidating but also so alluring at the same time. Over my nine years of experience working on the platform, I have discovered that what works is passion, authenticity, consistency, willingness, adaptability, and curiosity. 

My relationship with the platform has evolved over time. I’ve gone from feeling defeated, frustrated, and trapped working at companies that produced content that felt lifeless; to now feeling hopeful and inspired for the platform.

One of the most striking qualities of the platform to me is that so many people are willing to bring the audience along on their life journey. We get to see someone else maybe possibly do what we are so afraid to do. We get to see them trying, failing, and finding confidence that they didn’t have before. They gift the audience wisdom by sharing themselves.
